Arrest of seminary principal flayed


LAHORE – Alleging that the police was dancing to the tunes of Qadiyani lobby, JUI-F secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri on Monday condemned the arrest, torture and registration of terrorism case against the principal of a seminary, Jamia Sirajia Lahore, Maulana Rasheed Ahmed.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, he demanded the withdrawal of the case against Maulana Rasheed Ahmed and asked to necessary action against SHO and those involved in the matter.
Maulana Rasheed was arrested a few days back and booked under anti terrorism act for distributing pamphlets asking people to boycott a particular juice company. Released on bail, Maulana Amjad Khan, senior leader Qari Nazeer Ahmad and Sheikh Akmal were also present at the press club.
Ghafoor Haidri also demanded that an inquiry should be held to expose the elements and officials behind the whole episode. He alleged that Maulana Rasheed was being victimised because he and his father had been raising voice against the issue of blasphemy.
