KSE gains 53.64 points, closes at historic high



KARACHI - With healthy volumes of 245 million shares market continued to close to a historic high. Investors remained active in mid cap stocks like MLCF, ANL and FCCL. While LOTPTA also came in limelight after Asian PTA producers proposed to link the PTA price with Paraxylene to improve their margins. Engro Corp also closed to its upper cap after witnessing selling pressure for last few sessions, Samar Iqbal an equity dealer at Topline Securities observed here on Monday.
At local equity market benchmark KSE-100 share index added 53.64 points or 0.33 percent to end the trading session at 16,251.38 points as compared to 16,197.74 points of the last working day on Friday. 
KSE-Allshare index increased by 36.63 points or 0.32 percent to close the day at 11,414.28 points, KSE-30 share index higher by 49.28 points or 0.37 percent to stop the trading at 13,233.37 points while KMI-30 share index gained 83.46 points or 0.30 percent to finish the day at 28,293.10 level.
Bourse traded 245.674 million shares after opening at 165.115 million shares and the value of traded shares was climbed to Rs 4.961 billion from Rs 3.806 billion. Capitalisation of equity market settled at Rs 4.056 trillion as compared to Rs 4.043 trillion of previous session.
Out of 369 stocks, gainers held a strong lead over of the losers 245 to 100 while the values of 24 scrips remained intact. Rafhan Maize Prod was the biggest loser of the day down by Rs 72 to Rs 3500 followed by Colgate Palmolive decreased by Rs 65 to Rs 1235. The top price gainers of the day were led by Island Textile and Bata (Pak) XD down by Rs 31.17 to Rs 654.61 and Rs 27.11 to Rs 1344.99.
Maple Leaf Cement was the volume leader of the day with 31.272 million shares up by Re 0.98 to Rs 13.02. Azgard Nine was on the second position with 26.510 million shares up by Re 0.70 to Rs 8.73. It was followed by Fauji Cement with 18.149 million shares grew by Re 0.13 to Rs 6.87, Lotte PakPTA with 13.803 million shares added Re 0.36 to Rs 7.39 and JS Company with 13.789 million shares shed by Re 0.10 to Rs 16.86.
