Raisani chairs cabinet, PPP MPAs meeting in Islamabad




ISLAMABAD - Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani on Monday presided over a coalition partners meeting here at Balochistan House on Monday and discussed various issues pertaining to the functioning of the government with specific reference to the pending case over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Sources in PPP informed that earlier the Chief Minister called the cabinet meeting but later on the objection of some of the members it was converted into coalition partners meeting with well over three dozens cabinet members in attendance.
It is pertinent to mention here that keeping in view the growing rift between the party ranks in Balochistan, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had summoned all the PPP MPA from Balochistan to Islamabad to help sort out the differences between Raisani and party head Sadiq Umrani.
The sources in the government informed that President Asif Ali Zardari had expressed displeasure over the way the PPP Balochistan Chapter behaved irresponsibly after the constitutional crisis in the province and had directed the Prime Minister to sort out the matter.
On the move of Deputy Parliamentary Leader in Balochistan Assembly Ali Mohammad Jattak, who is also in the cabinet of Raisani, all those in attendance once again reposed their confidence in the leadership of Riasani and assured him that they would stand with him through thick and thin.
The sources said that Raisani managed to steer his government out of troubled waters when he secured confidence of majority MPAs in a much controversial session of Balochistan Assembly and now he is in a comfortable position on political front while the legal wizards of his government were chalking out a strategy to tackle the situation in the Supreme Court when the court would take up the matter in next couple of days.
The sources said that except a few rest of the coalition partners were in attendance at the meeting held here at Balochistan House wherein the overall political situation in the province while the legal team of the government briefed the members about the strategy they would adopt when the court would take up the Balochistan law and order case.
The Balochistan government has hired the services of senior lawyers including Shahid Hamid, Khawaja Haris and Raja Abdul Rehman to appear before the apex court on behalf of the Balochistan government. The PPP leaders from Balochistan also evolved their strategy about how to present their case before the Prime Minister and the President when they would meet them here today.
