RAWALPINDI - Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, on Monday visited several Imambargahs in the city to review the security arrangements made by law enforcers to guard religious gatherings during Muharram-ul-Harram.
He said that Punjab government was determined to make foolproof arrangements of security for Imambargahs and mourners and every possible step was being taken in this regard. He was informed that car and motorcycle parking had been set up at reasonable distance from Majalis places and police force had been deployed to keep a vigil on suspicious elements.
Some organisers of Imambargah Haidri Chowk informed the advisor that they had arranged the generators themselves for alternative power in case of loadshedding. Close circuit cameras have been installed to monitor the activities of visitors, they said, requesting the administration to put a complete ban on police cops for using mobile phones during duty hours. The advisor said that this proposal would be welcomed by the government and instructions would be given in this regard so that police force could perform their duties with whole attention and keep vigilant on the people coming to attend the religious gathering.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Police conducted flag march to infuse sense of security among the citizens during Muharram-ul-Harram. The flag march, led by SSP (Operations) Israr Ahmed Satti, started from Police Line Number 1 and roamed in several areas of the city.
