State powers planning another 1992-like op: Altaf

LONDON (PR) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that certain state powers were planning to start another operation against the MQM, similar to the 1992 operation, by levelling false allegation to stop the MQM struggle against the status quo. He said that the MQM was being made a scapegoat but the elements who were conspiring to vanquish the party should know that it was no longer confined to Karachi.Speaking to the MQM office-bearers and workers of the Lahore and Rawalpindi regions via telephone, Altaf said that the MQM has its presence in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. “Those who are planning to eliminate the MQM should know that people across the country, including Punjab, would rise in protest if the MQM is subjected to any repressive action again.”He said that the MQM was the only political party in the country that had its roots in the poor and middle class people and it was making genuine efforts to break the status quo. He said that the MQM brought a revolutionary change in the political culture of the country by sending young and poor people to assemblies and wanted to spread this change throughout the country. The MQM chief said: “We want the subjugated people of Punjab to break free from the clutches of cruel feudal lords. We want the feudal system to end so that the people of Punjab may also obtain freedom from tyrants.“The forces that want the status quo to continue in the country have never accepted the MQM. They have always been plotting against the MQM. Allegations were levelled against the MQM in the past as well to justify the repressive state operation and propaganda was done in order to mislead the people.”Commenting on the news circulating in the media about military operation in Karachi, Altaf said: “Once again there are stirrings in the print and electronic media about starting an operation in Karachi. Efforts are underway to silence the only voice being raised for the rights of people belonging to the poor and middle classes in the country.”He asked the party workers of Punjab to remain steadfast and prepare themselves for facing harsh circumstances. “We are the followers of Hazrat Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him). We did not bow down before injustices in the past and we would not do it even today. We would continue our struggle.”The workers assured him that they would not remain silent if arm tactics were used against the MQM. “We will protest and face every injustice with courage and determination. We will not desert the MQM under any condition.” Altaf praised the workers for their courage and determination and said, “I have firm belief in Almighty Allah that all conspiracies to crush the MQM would come to nothing and truth will prevail in the end.”
