Communications Federal Secretary Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has said that on the directive of Communications State Minister Murad Saeed, an internal audit team has been established under chairmanship of Communications Division Chief Finance and Accounts Officer Fakharuzzman Ali Cheema.
The objective of this move is to safeguard the accounts of the communications development schemes and to ensure transparency in them. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held at Ministry of Communications today.
Siddiqui said that the Ministry of Communications is committed to implement the vision of the present government and that pragmatic measures are being taken to ensure transparency and control expenditures in communications projects throughout the country. To this effect, establishment of internal audit team is an important step.
He said that the Ministry of Communications will extend all cooperation to promote transparency and control expenditure, so that money of public tax could be could be utilized in the right way. Continuing he said, austerity measures of the government will also pave the way to reduce load on national exchequer. He said transparency also plays a vital role to overcome corruption. help prevail transparency and reduce expenditures to a great extent, he added.
