LAHORE - Nepal’s Abhilasha Bista and USA’s Taylor Gotez outplayed the Russian pair of Olga Sorochkina and Ekaterina Suvorova in the final to clinch the girls’ doubles title in the ITF Pakistan ITA-Midcourt International Junior Tennis Championship at PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad on Friday.
Bista and Goetz were in good form and played some outstanding shots and smashes to overwhelm their Russian opponents with a good margin of 6-1, 6-2. They dominated the final right from the word go as they didn’t allow their opponents play freely and won the first set 6-1 and conceded just two points in the second set to win it 6-2, thus lifted the title.
On the other hand, Russian pair of Amir Asylkozhaev and Dmitry defeated Nepalese pair of Bessonov Aarav Samrat Hada and Aki Zuben Rawat in marathon three-set final to claim the boys’ doubles title. The Russian duo though lost the first set 4-6, yet they made a tremendous come back and won the next two sets 6-0 and 10-6in a row to lift the coveted trophy.
The finals of boys and girls singles will be played today (Saturday).
