Int’l investors show interest in Punjab’s mineral deposits showcased in Dubai Expo

LAHORE - International investors have shown deep interest in the mineral deposits of Punjab showcased in the Dubai Expo. The iron ore discovered from Chiniot has remained a hot top of discussion among the visitors who visited the Pakistan Pavilion. Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Hafiz Ammar Yasir said that mining companies from Germany, UAE and other countries had expressed keen interest in the province’s mineral deposits. “Matters with the Swiss mining company have also entered the final stages,” the minister said. The minister hoped that the participation of the Department of Minerals in the Dubai Expo will open new avenues for international investment in the mining sector. Led by Provincial Minister Ammar Yasir, a Pakistani delegation including MMD Secretary Aamir Ejaz Akbar, Deputy Secretary (Admin) Ateka Ammar Bukhari, and other officers concerned is in Dubai in connection with the exhibition. On Friday, Secretary Minerals and MD Panjmin provided information to the participants regarding the mineral deposits in the province. The international investors had been informed about the mineral deposits of Punjab and their potential. A documentary on Punjab’s mineral deposits was also shown to them. The delegation from Pakistan also organised a seminar on Mineral Investment Potential in Punjab to promote foreign investment in the mining sector. Provincial Minister for Minerals Hafiz Ammar Yasir on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar welcomed the visitors in the Punjab Pavilion. He said it was due to special efforts by the Chief Minister of Punjab that Pakistan Pavilion was showcasing the mineral deposits of Punjab.
