CDA allows giving power of attorney through video link

ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) , while simplifying its procedures has allowed owners of the residential properties to give General Power of Attorney (GPA) through an official video link from anywhere in the world.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the CDA board held in the chair of Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmed. A summary purposing several amendments in CDA Property Manual was moved by the estate wing that was approved by the board.

In past, if the allottee is living outside the Islamabad, the statement of confirmation of the General Power of Authority (GPA) was mandatory to be recorded before the concerned deputy commissioner while if the allottee is living outside the country, the allottee shall have to confirm GPA by verification through the Pakistan Mission in respective country.

However, now giving a huge relief to the property owners, who are living outside the Islamabad either in Pakistan or abroad, the city managers allowed them to record their statement of confirmation regarding GPA through an official video link available in the office of concerned director on the analogy of e-Court system and the said recording data shall be kept safe in backup.

The amendment would primarily facilitate the overseas Pakistanis, who were facing difficulties for the confirmation of their power of attorney.

In another important change in property manual, now once a property is transferred after due process of law, the assistant director admitting will take a print of the transfer letter and shall sign, stamp and embossed the latter and hand it over to the transferee immediately.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier after transfer of property, the file went to the estate management section and after passing through about a half dozen  offices  and units,  the transfer letter is issued to the transferee and it takes even months in some cases.

Meanwhile, the CDA board has allowed to allot 2 acres of land for Pakistan Army’ Education department in H-8, one acre plot in G-5 to the National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) and one acre plot to the Board of Investment in Mauve Area of G-11 in lieu of its already allotted plot in G-5 near National Bank of Pakistan.

The board has also approved to allot land for Federal Investigation Agency’s academy and land for National University in Zone IV of Islamabad.
