ATS arrests 3 suspects during 2 operations in capital

ISLAMABAD - The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Islamabad police have arrested three suspects including a prayer leader during two separate operations in different localities of the capital, informed sources on Tuesday.
The detained persons have been shifted to unknown locations for further investigation, they said.
Locals of the areas, where ATS operated, registered their strong protest against the ATS for harassing families including children and demanded Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Ashan Younas to initiate inquiry against the commandos of the ATS.
According to sources, a team of ATS commandos raided a house located in Street Number 17 of Shehzad Town to arrest a terror suspect Mohsin. However, the terror suspect managed to flee, they said. The ATS then held the aged father of Mohsin and tortured him mercilessly. Sources also disclosed that the ATS apprehended another young man, who is said to be a friend of Mohsin, along with his aged father, a former prayer leader in the area. Both the detained persons were moved to some unknown location by the ATS for further investigation.
In yet another raid on a hotel located at Khanna Bridge, ATS held Mufti Abdul Sami, the prayer leader of Jamia Mosque Umer Bin Khatab New Shakrial and leader of Sunni Rabita Council, and shifted him to some undisclosed location for further interrogation, sources added.
Meanwhile, Shahid Jamil, brother of Mufti Abdul Sami, had registered a kidnapping case with PS Khanna against the commandos of ATS.
Despite repeated attempts, no police officer of Islamabad police or spokesman was available for an official version over raids of ATS.
