Efforts for serving ailing humanity highlighted

LAHORE - The 57th meeting of the syndicate of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) held here on Saturday.

KEMU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Khalid Masood Gondal presided over the meeting, and, Registrar Dr Riasat Ali acted as Secretary to present agenda items. Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahram Sarwar Ch, Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) member Nayyar Iqbal, and other dignitaries attended the meeting which started with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran. KEMU VC Prof Khalid Masood Gondal updated the meeting about the recent academic, research and infrastructural development of the university.

The meeting appreciated the efforts of the vice chancellor to complete the development projects of the university on a priority basis. The meeting approved the extension of the KEMU’s TTS faculty members. The appointment of Prof Bilquis Shabbir as Dean of Nursing was also approved. The Department of Telemedicine was unanimously approved to be established on a permanent basis. On the occasion, Justice Shahram Sarwar Ch appreciated the services provided through Telemedicine Department of the KEMU. He further said that he had personally witnessed the state-of-the-art services provided during the corona pandemic. Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad Vice Chancellor Prof Tanveer Khaliq congratulated the KEMU administration to establish Telemedicine Department on a permanent basis. “This Department is a role model. It should also start training certificates for other institutions,” he added. KEMU VC Prof Khalid Masood Gondal informed the House that in future, telemedicine would be linked to DHQs and THQs for the benefit of public at large. The house appreciated the efforts of Prof Khalid Masood Gondal for uplifting the academic and research activities along with quality service delivery to the ailing humanity. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Ijaz Hussain, Prof Aisha Malik, Prof Saqib Saeed, Prof Saira Afzal, Prof Nakhshab Ch, Prof Haroon Hamid, Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof Bilqis Shabbir, and others were also present on the occasion.
