Fazl urges to observe Friday as ‘Protection Day of Constitution’

ISLAMABAD   -   Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has appealed to observe this Friday as ‘Protection Day of Constitution’.

In his media talk at his residence here in Islamabad the other day, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the country was pushed into a constitutional crisis, saying that dictatorship had not harmed democracy as much as those born from the cradle of dictatorship.

Maulana, while lambasting at PTI   said that the crisis started with the ruling of the NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri and later on, it was fuelled by the Imran Khan's move of dissolving assemblies. He said that the PTI workers tried to provoke democratic forces and make fun of the Constitution of Pakistan. PDM chief said that institutions are also responsible to play their role for the protection of the Constitution. He said that so-called government with caretaker setup could not hold free and fair elections, and they wanted once again to come into power through rigging.

Maulana Fazl said that cabinet secretariat has de-notified Prime Minister Khan, but President Arif Alvi has verbally asked the prime minister to continue working against the post.

He contended that National Security Council meeting has clearly said that there was no evidence of conspiracy in the ambassador’s letter against PTI’s government.
