ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Police deploy 3,857 cops in Red Zone while 500 cops in outer cordon in Parliament House ahead of the No-Confidence Vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran.
Reportedly, besides police force, the troops of Pakistan Army, the Rangers, Quick Response Force, Frontier Constabulary and personnel of other law enforcement agencies are also on duty to maintain law and order in the Federal Capital. Security has also been beefed up at all the entry and exit points of the city including Red Zone and all the other roads leading to Parliament.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas along with SSP Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran and SSP Law and Order Syed Karar is also patrolling in the Capital to monitor the security duty.
According to police spokesman, an entry point has been made at Margalla Road from where only MPs, lawmakers and senators are being allowed to enter the National Assembly whereas the entry of general public is banned in the area. Roads leading to the Parliament House from Blue Area, Kalsoom Plaza Chowk, Ayub Chowk, Sareena Chowk and Nadra Chowk have been closed by putting constrainers and barbed wires. “A special mechanism of body frisk is being adopted at entry point by the police force with mental detectors,” the spokesman said.
On the other hand, a comprehensive traffic plan has also been put in place by Islamabad Traffic Police under the command of SSP Rai Mazhar. The traffic police have placed special diversions to ease the traffic flow.
