LAHORE - In a significant development on Friday, the PML-N won back one of its disgruntled MPA from Narowal in a bid to consolidate its position in Punjab Assembly.
Maulana Ghiasuddin who was among the four estranged PML-N MPAs who had switched loyalties to the PTI, called on Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz and reposed his trust in his leadership. It may be recalled here that the PML-N had earlier expelled five MPAs from the party for meeting former Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar without seeking permission from the party leadership. Those who have been expelled from the party included Nishat Ahmed Daha and Faisal Niazi from Khanewal, Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharaqpuri from Sheikhupura, Muhammad Ghiasuddin from Narowal and Ashraf Ansari from Gujranwala. One of these five MPAs, Nishat Daha died later and another PML-N MPA was elected from this constituency in a bye-election. After Ghiasuddin’s return to the party, three PML-N MPAs Ashraf Ansari, Jalil Sharqpuri and Faisal Niazi are still out of the party fold.In the present House, the PML-N is standing on a thin majority and needs support of a couple of more MPAs to strengthen its numerical position in the Assembly.
