LBs representatives urge KP govt to release funds

Khyber - Representatives of local bodies (LBs) staged a protest rally in Landi Kotal on Wednesday. They were demanding development funds from the provincial government.

Village and neighbourhood chairmen and councillors of 36 VCs and NCs gathered in front of the local press club to register their agitation.

Led by City Mayor Haji Shah Khalid, the rally was participated by a number of councillors besides people from different walks of life who were holding banners inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.

The speakers said that the provincial government had pledged to devalue powers to the grassroots level and empower local government. However, no funds and powers had been granted to the elected representatives that was injustice to them.

The said despite passing of six months since LB election not a single penny in the form of development fund had not been provided by the provincial government to serve the decades long neglected tribesmen of their constituencies, they remarked.
