Pesco launches drive against power pilferers

LAKKI MARWAT - In a bid to discourage ‘kunda’ system and remove illegal electricity connections, the Pesco, Lakki Marwat sub division, has launched a campaign against power stealers and defaulters in several areas of the sub division.
“A massive awareness drive is also is in full swing to educate people avoid getting power facilty from LT lines through hooks (kunda)”, said an official on Friday. He said that kunda culture damaged transformers and caused overloading of power supply system; therefore people should extend their cooperation towards the officials of Pesco Lakki sub division to eliminate the notorious hook (kunda) connections. He told that removal of illegal connections and recovery of arrears besides improving power supply system would also be helpful to make
Pesco a profitable institution.
He told that the power supply company had also tightened noose around the defaulters to ensure recovery of arrears. “The arrears recovered from defaulters are deposited in the government’s kitty and are helpful to bring PESCO in a position to serve people especially consumers in a better way”, he maintained.
He asked the defaulters to approach concerned officials of Pesco and deposit easy installments for electricity metres in the banks after fulfilling relevant formalities. He called upon the people to legalise their electricity connections by getting metres on easy installments.
