Two underage motorcyclists lose life


LAHORE

Two teen friends were killed while another wounded critically when a truck bumped into their motorcycle in the Manawan area, police said on Saturday.
Three friends, identified as Sajid, Ghulam Hussain, and Naveed, were on way on a bike when a truck smashed into their motorcycle, wounding them critically.
They were were rushed to hospital where Sajid and Ghulam Hussain died. The deceased were said to be the locals.
People gathered at the crime scene following the tragedy and handed over truck driver Bilal to police. The truck driver told the police investigators that the motorcyclists were on road rage, causing the accident.
Police say that hundreds of motorcyclists lost their lives on roads across the Punjab every year due to lack of traffic sense and safety measures. A traffic police officer was of the view that the parents never encourage underage driving and the motorcyclists should ride bike only after adopting the safety measures including helmet.  Also, dozens of youngsters die while performing stunts on the two-wheelers in the provincial metropolis every year.
Gang smashed
City police on Saturday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its four members involved in several cases of road robberies.  A police spokesman said that on the direction of DIG (Operation), Jawad Ahmed Dogar, the Civil Lines division police arrested four criminals of Sheri dacoit gang. The police also recovered two pistols, one dagger and many bullets from their possession. The arrested bandits were identified as Shehryar alias Sheri, the ringleader and his accomplices including Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Danish and Akber Ali. Further investigation is underway.
