Begum Wali calls for ruthless accountability

PESHAWAR - Veteran politician and Chairperson of Awami National Party-Wali, Begum Nasim Wali Khan has called for across-the-board ruthless accountability.
She added that spare no ‘sacred cow’, saying looters of the public money deserve no mercy.
She said there should also be a proper mechanism to include the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the accountability process.
Begum Nasim added that some people don’t even own a house but they became billionaires by accumulating illegal public money.
She said this while speaking at a news conference at press club here on Wednesday.
She also claimed that action against corruption was also included in the 20 points of National Action Plan (NAP), which was totally ignored.
There is much talk about corruption in the country, but serious efforts are still required to eliminate it, she added.
The ANP-Wali chief supported formation of a judicial commission under the supervision of Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe into Panama Leaks.
She also suggested that such commission should be constituted for across the board accountability.
“How and through which source Pakistani politicians accumulated such huge wealth,” she questioned.
Commenting on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Begum Nasim said her party would not accept any change in the western route.
She said it was totally unjust to exploit the rights of smaller federating units under the CPEC project. She criticized the government pro-Punjab policies.
She asked the government to give priority to western route, which is short and significant due to close proximity with Central Asian Republics.
Later, ANP-Wali Provincial General Secretary, Farid Toofan, Mohsin Ali Khan also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance for intervention in the affairs of the Bank of Khyber.
They rejected the committee announced by provincial government to probe into the recent advertisement of the BoK.
