Opposition to be taken on board for probing Panama leaks scandal: Nisar

NEW YORK: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that whatever committee or a commission was formed to probe Panama leaks scandal opposition will be taken on board.
“Reaction to Panama leaks surfaced in Pakistan first of all. Whatever committee or commission is constituted with reference to Panama leaks, opinion of the opposition will be included. A clear headway will be made in terms of investigation into the matter within a day or two. But certain elements have unleashed a propaganda campaign in the garb of Panama leaks,” he said while addressing a joint press conference here along with Pakistan permanent ambassador to UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi.
The entire county wants transparent investigations into Panama leaks issue, but what allegations have been levelled against the children of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, only they can give reply to these accusations. Announcement had been made to constitute a commission but several senior judges refused to come forward,” he said.
He underlined that the government was fully focussing on security issues in the country. Army was not only safeguarding the borders of the country but also extending help in internal affairs of the country under the constitution. “There is a unanimity of views among army and the government on all common issues including corruption and accountability. Police and Rangers and not the army are conducting operations in Karachi,” he indicated. “However, there is no wrong in seeking help from army against the robbers.”
He said that terror related incidents have remarkably declined as compared to the past.
He went on to say that the PTI will hold public meeting in F-9 park and not a sit-in.
To a question that agencies were changing loyalties of MQM leaders through pressure, he said that the MQM should make it clear who was pressuring its members.
