18 outlaws arrested with arms in Peshawar

Peshawar - Capital City Police have arrested 18 outlaws and recovered arms and drugs during search and strike operations on Wednesday.

Speaking to journalists, SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed said that teams comprising Elite Force, ATS, lady police, bomb disposal unit and also army and FC personnel conducted raids in Sheikh Muhammadi, Bazidkhel, Kagawala, Shahabkhel, Panj Katta and other areas.

He said Kalashnikovs, rifles, pistols and other arms were also recovered during the actions. He said the operations were meant to improve law and order and ensure security to citizens.

“Other law-enforcement agencies have also been contacted in order to find out of the arrestees are involved in other crimes too,” he added.

Extortionists arrested: Meanwhile, Counter Terrorism Department claimed to have arrested two extortionists in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

An official said two alleged extortionists Mudassir and Fazal Maula were arrested by the CTD during an action on Ring Road.

Meanwhile, an Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced another extortionist to 5 years and 5 months in prison.
