Police baton charge, snatch veils of protesting medical students

BAHAWALPUR The police here on Friday baton charged the protesting female students of the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, besides hurting their modesty by snatching their headscarves and veils when they had taken to street to protest against the college administrations high-handedness. As per details, score of protesting students sustained severe injuries when the police resorted to baton charge to disperse the students. As the students lamented over the college principals high-handedness, as well as load-shedding, increase in academic fees and faulty examination system, the Principal Dr Prof Ejaz Shah summoned the police, which inflicted torture on the students and arrested more than 23 of them. Cases have been registered against 160 students on the report of the principal under various charges. Meanwhile, people of the area have condemned this act of police and demanded action against the delinquent police officials.
