Prof Tahir passes away

LAHORE - Prof Dr Tahir Hussain, a noted nuclear physicist and professor emeritus at the Government College University Lahore, has passed away on Monday at the age of 87. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Aftab and faculty members have expressed profound grief on the sad demise of Prof. Dr Tahir Hussain. In his message, Prof Aftab said that as an eminent educator and great scientist, Dr Tahir mentored noted physicists of Pakistan at the GCU. He remembered that noted nuclear scientists Dr Ishfaq Ahmad, Dr Hameed Ahmed Khan, Dr Mansoor Baig and Dr Samar Mubarakmand are also among the students of Prof Tahir. The vice chancellor paying glowing tribute to Prof Tahir on account of his meritorious services rendered to realm of physics and nuclear science said that it would be almost impossible to bridge the void created by his departure. In their condolence message to the bereaved family, the GCU Vice Chancellor and faculty members prayed to the Almighty Allah to bless the departed soul.
