Shahbaz for stern action against loudspeaker misuse

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday directed the authorities to take stern action against the persons involved in misusing loudspeaker by way of delivering provoking speeches and inciting sectarian sentiments.
The CM also asked the police and administrative authorities to formulate a 4-tier cordon to protect processions on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and beef up security on the Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA) through CCTV cameras, walkthrough gates and scanners. He said directed the police and law-enforcement agencies to remain alert and maintain a close coordination with one another. He warned that no negligence or inefficiency would be allowed in maintaining law and order.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting on law and order situation in the province. The meeting was also attended by Rana Sanaullah Khan and Col. (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada.
The CM underscored the need for national unity to foil nefarious designs and root out extremism and sectarianism, which he added, are impeding progress and prosperity of the country. He said, “Our society needs steps for promoting unity and sentiments of tolerance and brotherhood.” He directed the police to perform its responsibilities with commitment and dedication for maintaining peace.
The Provincial Home Secretary and Inspector General Police gave a detailed briefing to the meeting about the overall law and order situation and security arrangements in Punjab.
Separately, Air Vice Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Matters of professional activities came under discussion in the meeting.
