LAHORE - Mamba Squad Basketball Club and Aram Bagh Basketball Club recorded victorious in the 16th Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Basketball Tournament 2021 at International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court, Aram Bagh, Karachi.
According to KBBA President, in the first match of the day, Mamba Squad defeated Petersen Star Club. Mamba Squad got off to an aggressive start in the tournament by outpacing the opponents 81-39. Ramesh from the winning club scored 30 with the help of 4 three pointers while Sameer Ahmed (21) and Kenneth Johnson (19) also played well. From the losing side, Andre Turner gathered 13 points. In the second match Aram Bagh Club routed Karachi Colts 87-46. Hassan Ali (31), Samad Khan (25) and Asad Hafeez (18) with the help of 6 three pointers were the top performers from the winning club while from the losing side, Huzaifa Khan (12), Abdul Rahim (10) and Sameer Rafique (10) played well.
Zafar Iqbal, Yusuf Khan and Ghulam Muhammad Sr were the referees while technical officials were Raj Kumar Lakhwani, Naeem Ahmed, Mumtaz Ahmed and Amir Ghias. Before the match, special guest Sindh Olympic Association Associate Secretary Master Asghar Baloch was introduced to the players. On this occasion, President Karachi Basketball Association Ghulam Muhammad Khan, International Muhammad Yaqub and others were also present.
Earlier, phenomenal performance of Muhammad Danial Marwat helped Usman Club outplay defending champions Omega Club. Danial played superb basketball and emerged as top scorer with 16 points with the help of 5 three pointers while Hamza Khawaja scored 15 and Madras Ahmad 11 points. Farhan Patel (14), Arbaaz Zain (9) and Abbas Abid (8) played well for the losing club. In the second match, Karachi Basketball Club defeated Banuria Basketball Club by 36-31.
Ahmed Karim (10) and Nazir Ahmed (8) were prominent players from the winning team.
