peshawar - Capital City Police on Thursday claimed to have seized 35kg charas and 10kg opium besides arresting a drug peddler while 15 proclaimed offenders were also arrested in other raids.
A spokesman for Peshawar police said that after taking charge, SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed had expedited search and strike operations in the provincial capital. He said nine search operations were conducted on Wednesday-Thursday night, leading to the arrest of 15 wanted men in different cases and 88 other suspects. Another six people were arrested for having sheltered the proclaimed offenders. During the raids, the cops also recovered 29 pistols, two Kalashnikovs, 5 shotguns, and a few hundred bullets.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that SSP Haroon Rasheed chaired a crime review meeting, attended by SHOs and DSPs from all over Peshawar.
The SSP said that in view of recent incidents, security had been put on alert in the provincial capital and asked the cops to improve human intelligence and also keep an eye on hotels of the city and those staying there.
The meeting reviewed crimes and discussed the recent recoveries of drugs and weapons and arrest of wanted people in various cases.
