ISLAMABAD -The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have conducted raids in twin cities and took four suspects into custody in connection with a terrorist attack on a police checkpost in capital, informed sources on Thursday.  A cop Munawar Hussain embraced martyrdom while two other policemen suffered bullet injuries when two terrorists launched a brazen armed attack on a police patrolling party busy in checking vehicles at a picket placed at Jilania Chowk at Sector G-8/1 in Islamabad  on January 18,2022. Police also retaliated and shot dead two attackers on the spot. According to sources, the law enforcement agencies have broadened the sphere of investigation and carried raids in various parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Sources also disclosed that several cops, personnel of intelligence agencies and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) along with sniffer dogs took part in the search operation launched in twin cities soon after the incident. They said the suspects had been shifted to unknown location for interrogation over their alleged involvement as facilitators in the terror attack.

A senior police officer, while talking to The Nation on condition of anonymity, said the detained suspects are part of sleeper cell of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
