Rawalpindi-In order to resolve the traffic related issues on permanent basis and ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ashfaq Ahmed Khan has decided to divide Murree into five sectors ahead of the expected spell of rain and snowfall.
The meeting chaired by RPO Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, was attended by SSP Operations/ Acting Chief Traffic Officer Wasim Riaz, DSP Traffic Circle Zabih ul Hassan, Incharge Cannt Circle Inspector Azmat, OSI Inspector Nadim Abbas, Inspector Adnan Shaukat, DO Traffic Headquarters Waseem Ahmed, Incharge HRIMS Traffic Warden Faisal and other officers concerned.
Addressing the meeting, the RPO directed traffic police to divide Murree into five sectors to regulate traffic rush. He further directed to identify the number of roads/ points causing traffic congestion and deputed extra force of wardens and officers to avoid traffic rush.
“There should be a complete ban on entry of mechanically unfit vehicles in Murree,” he said.
Further directing that the unnecessary parking lots along with roads should be eliminated to ensure smooth flow of traffic during rain and snowfall, he said the traffic police should evolve a comprehensive traffic plan while keeping in view the advisory/ prediction of weather by Met Office.
RPO Ashfaq Ahmed Khan stressed the need of awareness campaign regarding implementation of traffic rules and directed the quarters concerned to launch a mass scale awareness campaign.
Earlier, the traffic staff of CTP briefed RPO in detail about the traffic management.
On the other hand, RPO Ashfaq Ahmed Khan has pinned badges to newly promoted SP Azhar Khan in a ceremony held in his office.Azhar Khan is serving as SDPO Saddar Attock.
The ceremony was attended by DPO Attock Rana Muhammad Shohaib, SSP Operations Wasim Riaz, SSP RIB Abdul Farooq and other officers.
