The lawyers of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz arrived at Adiala jail and met with their clients.
Nawaz Sharif's lawyer Khawaja Harris and Maryam Nawaz’s counsel Amjad Pervaiz met the father-daughter duo and Maryam's husband Captain (retired) Safdar Awan at the Adiala jail.
According to sources, important legal matters were discussed during the meeting.
Maryam Nawaz's lawyer Amjad Pervez talked to the media after the meeting, he said, "Mian Sb is determined and hopeful."
He continued, "the former prime minister feels he was not granted the facilities that he should have been given."
Meanwhile, while talking about Captain (retired) Safdar Awan, Advocate Amjad Pervez said, "He is a heart patient and his medical records are available."
He stated, "Capt (retired) Safdar does not want to seek any medical facilities beyond those offered in the jail manual. Maryam does not want to avail better facilities."
Prior to this, on July 19, a pre-arranged meeting between the lawyers and the father-daughter duo was cancelled by authorities at Adiala jail.
Harris and Advocate Pervaiz were notified via phone that their meeting had been cancelled upon arriving at the jail on July 19. The lawyers were also told by jail authorities that they would be informed of a new time for the meeting later. The meeting was later scheduled for today.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison and fined with a £8 million while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2 million fine in the Avenfield corruption reference by an accountability court on July 6.
