3000 cops to perform Eid duty in Rawalpindi: CPO

Rawalpindi   -  Police on Tuesday have chalked out a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order situation and ensure citizens’ safety on Eid-ul-Azha in the district.

The security plan was finalised by City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas under which more than 3000 well equipped cops and officers would perform duty, according to a police spokesman.

He said a special plan has also been made to thwart one wheeling on roads.

Sharing further details, he said that CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas said that more than 3000 police personnel would perform security duty on Eid. He said tight security of the city would be in place in wake of the recent wave of terrorism. 

“All the mosques, Imam Bargahs, parks and other areas will be protected by 2700 cops and officers,” he said adding that 300 cops would help out traffic police to control influx of public as well as one wheelers to Murree on the eve of Eid Ul Azha. 

“We have also finalised a separate traffic management plan for Murree and to thwart one wheeling. A total of 600 wardens and officers to be deputed in hill resort to ease traffic flow,” the spokesman said.

The police force would also be assisted by Elite Force commandos, mountain riders, Dolphin Force, Muhafiz Squad and lady police to control law and order situation on the eve of Eid Ul Azha.

CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas has appealed the citizens to keep a vigil on suspicious elements and to alert police immediately in case of any dubious activity of any person around them. 

He pledged to ensure the security and safety of public and property by utilising all the available resources.
