Articles 62, 63 ignored in scrutiny process: Qadri

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has said relating corruption cases to pre-poll rigging is an ill-designed narrative as if former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Khalida Zia is in jail due to corruption, heavens won’t fall if Nawaz Sharif is jailed in the same nature of cases.

Talking to party workers on Wednesday, he said decision of corruption cases against Nawaz Sharif should not be delayed and they must be summoned in Model Town case too. He said Election Commission and Interim Prime Minister should take notice of use of Governor Houses for political and electoral purpose as participation of constitutional heads in electoral campaign is affecting negatively atmosphere of free and fair elections. He said tax evaders, nominated accused of massacre and those under-trial in corruption cases were allowed to contest election. It seemed, he said, during process of approval of nomination papers, article 62/63 were ignored.

He said interim federal government must issue policy to remove ambiguities about stolen DATA of voters. He said those raising slogan of “respect the vote” were awarded special seats to their near and dear ones.

The street workers, he said, could launch respect the vote campaign against their political lords. He said corrupt Sharifs during their five years rule gave nation gifts of price-hike, loans, load shedding, devaluation of rupee and corruption and did nothing for health and education.

PAT will decide next course of action in the meeting of party candidates, he said.
