Chairman NAB to approve reference against Khawaja Asif

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday has prepared a reference against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif and sent it to NAB chief for final approval.

According to the sources, it is mentioned in the reference that Khawaja Asif is accused of money-laundering and making assets beyond means.

NAB chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal had approved an inquiry against Khawaja Asif on September 4, 2018. The PML-N leader was arrested on December 29, 2020 while the investigation in the case is underway.

It was further mentioned in the NAB reference that Khawaja Asif owned a 3,000 square yards house when he became a senator in 1991. Khawaja Asif owned assets worth Rs 5.1 million by 1993 and Rs 404 million by 2018.
