ISLAMABAD - The reshuffle in the Federal Cabinet is expected in next couple of weeks as the PML-Q is reportedly going to change two of its ministers in the incumbent setup.
Sources close to the development told TheNation that the Q-League would soon ask the ruling PPP to change its one federal minister and a minister of state. They said the change was to be made earlier but delayed due to various reasons including tough political scenario in the country. “The change is final and expected in next two weeks, however, the political situation in the country can once again prolong it,” sources said. Minister of State for Ministry of Housing and Works Raza Hayat Hiraj and Ameer Muqam of PML-Q have submitted their resignations but these have not been accepted so far.
They maintained that Minister of State for Housing and Works Raza Hayat Hiraj and Federal Minister without portfolio Ameer Muqam would be replaced with two other Q-Leaguers. “The party has not yet decided who will replace them, however, the leadership will soon be discussing the issue with party members and the prime minister as well,” sources said.
They said ruling PPP was also expected to make changes in its ministerial team which also depended upon the political scenario as a contempt of court case against the prime minister was in the court.
“If the Supreme Court penalises the prime minister in this case, the cabinet will automatically be dissolved and the next prime minister will form his own cabinet,” source added.
The renowned lawyer SM Zafar, who is also a retired senator when contacted, said the cabinet would not be dissolved with the penalisation of the prime minister. However, it would be dissolved automatically after the Election Commission’s decision to disqualify the prime minister.
He said in that case the new prime minister would appoint new cabinet members.
