PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf, Haj, Religious and Minority Affairs Department Peshawar has called for a mass awareness drive aimed to prevent desecration of printed Islamic material.
In a circular issued on Friday said that introduction of printing technology had helped dissemination of printed materials containing religious texts of the Holy Quran and Hadiths for educating the masses at wider scale but it had also given rise to the problem of desecration these printed materials containing. It stated that it has been observed that such materials are very carelessly thrown at public places, criminally ignoring the their sanctity.
It said that penal laws existed for punishing the deliberate offenders of desecration of the Holy Quran in Pakistan Penal Code but such behaviour was mostly not deliberate and intentional but lack of fear of God and the Day of Judgment. "Islam has declared in clear words that Din cannot be imposed on the minds of mankind by force.
