ISLAMABAD - The number of Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel to be deployed for the security of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) is being increased from 750 to 2675, as CDWP referred the second revised PC-I of the project worth Rs51.29 billion to the executive committee of the National Economic Council (NEC) for further consideration.
A meeting of Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, cleared a development project worth Rs2.66 billion and recommended another worth Rs51.29 billion to the NEC executive committee for further consideration. Senior officials from Planning Commission and Federal Ministries/Divisions also participated in the meeting while representatives of provincial governments participated through video conferences. Projects related to Transport and Communications were considered in the meeting.
A Transport and Communications project, presented in the meeting namely “New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) 2nd Revision” worth Rs51298.175 million, was referred to the NEC executive committee for further consideration. As per the second revised PC-1 of the project submitted by Aviation Division, the scope of the project is being enhanced owing to the rise in number of ASF personnel for the security of the airport, the ASF residences, ASF camp, CAA residential building. The Planning Commission deputy chairman also directed that combine electricity generation from Solar and Wind should be explored to meet the future needs for Gwadar Airport.
Another project related to Transport and Communications was also presented in the meeting namely “Feasibility Studies and Detailed Engineering Design for KPCIP (Transport and Municipal Services) Under Project Readiness Financing –PRF2” worth Rs2666.08 million. All aspects of the project were discussed in detail by the forum. The location of the project is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Kohat, Mardan, and Peshawar. The project envisages engineering and procurement support, planning feasibility detailed design and capacity building for Urban Municipal Services, and project management, financial management, procurement, transport planning, etc.
