Bahawalpur - A meeting was held in the committee room of the office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia in which Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Farooq Qamar, Deputy Director Local Government Muhammad Khurshid, District Election Commissioner Abrar Jatoi, 

Chief Officer District  Councilor Muhammad Azhar Javed, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Nasrullah and other concerned officers were present.  

The meeting reviewed the demarcation of urban and rural areas under the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2021, the delimitation of Neighborhood Councils formed in urban areas and village councils in rural areas.  

In Bahawalpur District, a notification was issued to give the status of Metropolitan Corporation to Tehsil Bahawalpur City and to form District Council consisting of Urban and Rural Areas of five other Tehsils of the District. 

Similarly, neighbourhood councils will be formed in the area of metropolitan corporation and five other municipal committees, while village councils will be formed in rural areas of tehsils. Earlier, District Election Commissioner Abrar Jatoi briefed about the delimitation in Bahawalpur district.

Christmas bazaars should be set up 

at Bahawalpur

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia has said that all arrangements should be made for the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas Day.  

He was addressing a meeting on Christmas Day in the committee room of the office. Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Farooq Qamar, Chief Officer District Council, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation, District Coordinator Health and officers of other concerned departments and representatives of Anjuman-e-Tajiran were present on the occasion.  

The Deputy Commissioner said that Christmas bazaars should be set up at Bahawalpur and Tehsil headquarters. Foolproof security arrangements would be ensured on the occasion of Christmas Day.  

District Coordinator Dr. Khalid Chandar said that health camps would be set up by the health department where corona vaccination facility would also be provided. The Chief Officer Municipal Corporation and the Chief Officer District Council said that excellent arrangements for cleaning and lighting would be ensured.
