It’s all about cricket these days. Especially the social media is abuzz with favourite teams and match fixtures. Guys like myself, who are crazy about cricket select our favourite channels that we’d like to stick to for world cup matches. While I was searching for match viewing options, I came across the ‘SmartTVAPP’ advertisement in a paper, that claimed to stream cricket World Cup non-stop, without any commercials and guess what, it is developed by a local phone company PTCL.
For a moment I was unsure if it was PTCL, as in the national telephone company in Pakistan. I felt good that we will have a Pakistani APP for cricket lovers, that which we can use to stay up-to-the-minute stats and view live all matches. It does cost a little, but I think it’s worth it, if they really are going to stream advertisement free. Well let’s see how this application performs. I am a Pakistani IT professional and I feel that large technology companies should help encourage the local APP industry by undertaking similar initiatives in APP development.
