FPW S/S 2021 brings back an allure of fashion in Karachi

KARACHI-Day 1 on the FPW Spring/Summe2021 ramp began with an ornate collection from Umsha by Uzma Babar, which was then followed suit by coruscating showcases from Kalah by Mubashira, Diner’s, Sadaf Malaterre, Aleena and Fareena, Tabassum Mughal, and Sundus Talpur.  The new names were especially interesting and each collection on opening night carved a niche for their craft and was met with applause. Speaking about this edition of the Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer, Chairperson of Fashion Pakistan Council and the doyenne of fashion, Maheen Khan, noted how this year in particular has been important in embracing the new changes in the fashion industry.

“I am very excited that, against all odds, we have actually achieved in pulling off this edition of Fashion Pakistan Week. Fashion Pakistan Council has always been known to promote new talent - designers, models, photographers or backstage teams - and this has continued to this date,” said Mrs. Khan.

“This year in particular, more so than ever, we have embraced the entire industry, and chosen to work with a lot of teams we haven’t worked with before. It’s been a wonderful experience and this is exactly what the council stands for. Embrace new talent and do not tear down the walls that have just been built.” The exclusive and well curated event brimmed with palpable energy as a select guest list of media members and celebrities explored the concept of ‘The Secret Garden’. FPW 2021 was a one-of-its-kind experience where nature and fashion merged into each other. The invitees started off the weekend full of style and glamour, as they walked the dazzling Alkaram Studio red carpet. The red carpet buzzed throughout the evening as celebrities, designers, influencers, and the creme de la creme of the fashion sphere raised the style quotient. Amidst the many eye-catching and head-turning ensembles, some, which raised the temperature with their sizzling pzazz included ‘Dum Mastam’ actress Amar Khan in a dramatic yet intricate gown by Uzma Babar, Sarwat Gilani who made a classic black dress, look brilliant as she represented the Special Olympics as their brand ambassador, and Ayesha Omar, who stunned in a Wajahat Mansoor ensemble. There was a frisson of excitement as the first model glided down the garden steps to start the circular walkway. After a hiatus of a year, a selected fashion crowd and critics were able to witness a true fashion opening. The professionalism of this fashion week, as put out by the Fashion Pakistan Council during Spring/Summer 2021, truly breathed life back to the runway as fresh debuting-models, trained by former supermodel Atiya Khan and fashion designer Sadaf Malaterre and directed by Adnan Ansari and his Riwayat London team, captivated the audience, the fashion collections created major buzz, and some head-turning looks by the Depilex Group made everyone appreciate the high-glamour quotient.

Like every FPW edition, this mighty return of fashion to the Karachi ramp would not have been possible without the help of some esteemed partners. Alkaram Studio created the perfect space for some buzzworthy photographs being taken as the official red carpet sponsor.

Ensuring seamless broadcasting of the show, media partners ARY Digital kept everyone in the know. The need to have some gleaming shoes for the runway was fulfilled by Nineteen, the official shoe partner. Their ‘Food Guru’ kept everyone’s hunger satiated as the official food partner, Hilal Silk kept the style quotient high by being the official fabric partner, Insync Advertising shone as a proud patron of the event, and Nawan Healthcare ensured health safety by becoming the official healthcare partner for the event.
