Peshawar Zalmi crushed Lahore Qalandars in the first super over of PSL 7 here at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Coming out to bat, the Zalmi’s openers Mohammad Haris and Hazratullah Zazai failed to provide a decent start to the side as the Qalandars’ speedster Haris Rauf bashed the opening partnership in a second for a mere six.
Coming to the crease, Zazai joined Kamran Akmal but the Afghan flammable batter could not get going for long as he went back to the pavilion in the sixth over; scoring 20. Later on, Kamran also perished as the debutant Fawad Ahmed struck him for 18.
Malik and Haider Ali then resumed the action to rebuild the innings for the men in yellow. The pair appeared solid and recorded a magnificent 58-runs partnership but could not extend their stay at the crease till the death overs. Malik had to go in the 14th while Haider made his way back in the very next over.
Malik hammered 32 runs off 28 deliveries with one boundary and a six. Haider, on the other hand, followed back with his 25 off 22 balls, laced with two boundaries and a six.
Following their departure, the Zalmi could set only 159 runs target in the allotted 20 overs. Hussain Talat remained unbeaten for his 17, while Khalid Usman also made 19 off 11.
For the Qalandars, Fawad bagged two wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris, Mohammad Hafeez, and David Wiese took one scalp each.
Chasing the target, Qalandars start was not good as Fakhar Zaman who has been incredible in this season got trapped by Shoaib Malik on the very first of the second innings.
