Attempt to smuggle foreign currency worth millions foiled at Lahore airport

Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign currency worth millions in Pakistani rupees and arrested an accused at Allama Iqbal international airport on Saturday.

An investigation has also been launched to ascertain the possibility of involvement of staff deputed at the airport following an altercation between customs officials and the Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel during the action.

Hassan Ali, a passenger successfully cleared all scanning counters to board a PIA flight for Dubai along with his hand-carry luggage.

According to customs officials, a total of 4,40,000 Saudi Riyals amounting to Rs20.68 million in Pakistani rupees were recovered from the suspect's possession.
