Water shortage hits Adiala areas


RAWALPINDI  - Various parts of Rawalpindi have been facing acute water shortage particularly Adiala Road and adjacent areas inhabited by tens of thousands of people causing inconvenience and problems to the dwellers.The residents talking to INP complained that despite paying high charges for water tankers they do not get water, adding that the only water filtration plant at 502 workshop was not sufficient to provide water to thickly populated areas. Moreover, long lines of people could be seen waiting for water but return without getting water due to loadshedding.  Muhammad Zahid, a resident of Lalazar Colony, said that the only plant remains operational from 9am in the morning till 1pm at noon and from 5pm in the evening till 9 pm but due to prolonged loadshedding it operate hardly for three hours.
They deplored concerned authorities for claiming to be providing water to Adiala road and adjacent areas saying that roads and streets were dug up but authorities could not ensure provision of water supply to the localities.The residents demanded concerned authorities to ensure provision of water supply as they are deprived of the most basic necessity in 21 century.
