BB did not take my advice on Pindi meeting: Zardari

LAHORE  - Maintaining that death was inevitable, the PPP-P President Asif Ali Zardari Monday said that he had advised Shaheed Benazir Bhutto not to attend the Rawalpindi public gathering, but she did not take his advice.

“When the intelligence officers also warned her against attending the gathering because of threats to her life, she asked them why they did not arrest the terrorists”, he revealed while addressing the 68th birthday ceremony of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benzair Bhutto at the Bilawal House here.   Paying tributes to the late BB, Asif said that she had no parallel in the world. “BB got her ideology recognized across the globe. Intellectuals from the world over are now writing books on her life and political struggle”, he maintained.

The former president said that Benazir was born on the longest day (June 21st) of the year and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto would say: “This sun will never set”.

“God had given so much courage to BB that she forced General Musharraf to quit the powerful office”, he said.

Addressing the workers, Zardari said that he could face every trouble because of their support. “Workers like Mani Pahelwan and Arif Khan are source of pride for the party. It has been long since I met you last. It is because most of the time, I have been either in jail or in hospital. It is not less than a great gift for me to meet the workers,” he averred.

Talking about Bilawal Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari said: “I cannot teach politics to Bilawal. Has anyone ever taught the fish how to swim. He is moving ahead at his own pace. Bilwal will take along your future generations”.
