ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People’s Party has said that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto lives in the people’s hearts.
Benazir Bhutto’s birthday ceremony was held in the chamber of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, on Monday. Shahadat Awan, Senator Rukhsana Zubair, Senator Sikandar Mendro, Senator Imam Din Shoqeen, Senator Behramand Tangi and others were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani paid homage to Benazir Bhutto and said that Shaheed Bibi had struggled throughout her life for the supremacy of Parliament and restoration of the constitution.
“Benazir Bhutto endured immense hardships for the country and the people,” he said. Gilani said the workers of Benazir Bhutto could make great sacrifices but they could not allow the sanctity of the Constitution to be ruined.
Prayers were also offered for Senator Usman Kakar, leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
Afterwards a cake was cut to mark Benazir Bhutto’s birthday. Meanwhile, Senator Sherry Rehman also cut the birthday cake of Benazir Bhutto in the Senate lobby.
