Pakistan Flour Mills Association announces strikes from June 24

The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA), on Tuesday, has announced to go on strike from June 24.

The PFMA Chairman said that the flour mills, across the country, will be closed from June 24 and will go on strike indefinitely from June 30 against turnover and sales taxes imposed by the government.

Asim Raza Ahmed also urged the government to withdraw the 17 percent choker tax on wheat.

It is pertinent to be stated here that initially there would be a two-day strike. In case if the bran tax is imposed on flour, it is expected that the price of flour will increase by Rs 5 per kg.
