Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took strong exception to the in adequate provision of medicines to patients in DHQ Hospital Hafizabad and directed the MS to ensure ample medicines and other facilities in the hospital.
The chief minister arrived in Hafizabad District Complex on a surprise visit through a helicopter on Monday and went straight to the DHQ Hospital on a van without getting any protocol. Shahbaz Sharif went around the Emergency, nursery ward, labour room, operation theatres and main medicine store. The CM expressed his resentment over insanitary conditions prevailed in the hospital. He also expressed his astonishment to see that store room of the Operation Theatre was locked. He broke open the lock and inspected the store room. He ordered an inquiry into the incomplete record of the medicines store and ordered sealing the store immediately.
Shahbaz Sharif enquired from the patients and their attendants about the standards of healthcare at hospital. At which attendants of scores of patients complained about non-provision of medicines to the patients. He ordered the doctors to be courteous towards the patients and provide requisite medicines to the patients. The chief minister informed that the government has accorded top priority to the provision of healthcare and it is imperative for the doctors to perform their duties with commitment and missionary zeal.
He warned that negligence on the part of doctors would not be tolerated. The Punjab CM also visited the Computerised Land Record Centre at the District Complex and expressed satisfaction over the computerisation of land record.
Hafizabad DCO Muhammad Ahmad Rajwana, DPO Haroon Joyia and other officers of the district accompanied the chief minister during the visit and briefed him about their respective departments.
