Mushahid Hussain's mother laid to rest

LAHORE - A large number of people belonging to various walks of life offered funeral prayers for Sameen Sayed, mother of PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, on Sunday. She was laid to rest in Shah Jamal graveyard. Leaders of the PML-N and PPP were also among those who offered funeral prayers. Most of others belonged to the PML-Q. Former foreign minister Sartaj Aziz and Senator Pervaiz Rashid (PML-N), Aitzaz Ahsan, Munir Ahmed Khan and Zakariya Butt (PPP) and Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif were among them. Nawa-i-Waqt Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Chaudhry Shafaat Husain, Moonis Elahi, SM Zafar, Amir Muqam, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Dr Khalid Ranjha, Naseer Khan, Imtiaz Ranjha, former governor Mian Muhammad Azhar, Khwaja Riaz Mehmood, PML-Z chief Ejazul Haq, Punjab PPP (SB) President Dr Mubashir Hassan, his brother Dr Shabbar Hassan, Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, Iqbal Haider, Roedad Khan, Iqbal Dar, Pir Nau Behar Shah, Ali Ghazanfar Kararvi, Haider Ali Mirza, Dr Mujahid Kamran, TheNation Editor Salim Bokhari, former foreign secretary Shamshad Ahmed, also offered funeral prayers. Sameen Sayed, 83, an activist in the Pakistan Movement, had passed away in her family home at Muslim Town on Saturday. She hailed from a distinguished old family of Lahore and was the wife of Col (r) Amjad Hussain Sayed, a renowned veteran of the Pakistan struggle and a recipient of the gold medal from the Prime Minister in 1997 for his services. Sameena Sayed leaves behind four children - Mujahid Hussain Syed, Mowahid Shah, Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Tahseen Sayed. Her daughter, Tazeen Sayed, passed away in 1996. Qul will b held on Tuesday after Zuhr prayer. PML-Q leader Marvi Memon, singer Tahira Syed, former TheNation editor Dr Shireen Mazari and many other ladies sympathised with the bereaved family.
