PTI dissidents decide to boycott Raiwind march

PESHAWAR - PTI’s disgruntled lawmakers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have formally decided to boycott Imran Khan-led Raiwind march, scheduled for September 30.

The dissident lawmakers consisting of both MNAs and MPAs have agreed to keep themselves at a distance from the march so that to pass on a massage to the party’s top brass that their reservations have not been resolved, one of the dissident lawmakers told The Nation.

“Moreover, we will not run any campaign to mobilize party workers and general public to attend Raiwind march,” he said.

When asked about their decision, he replied that to some extent, it’s a kind of reaction after the party’s Chairman Imran Khan didn’t meet them as per promise to resolve their issues.

He said that that the dissidents demand proper implementation of the party’s manifesto, across the board accountability and good governance.

The disgruntled lawmaker said that it was crystal clear that there was a complete difference in the party’s ideology and the PTI-led provincial government’s priorities.

The PTI’s workers and general public are unhappy over the present provincial government headed by CM Pervez Khattak.

There is no equal distribution of development funds, he said.

Another dissident said that it was clear that they would not attend Raiwind march at all. Moreover, it has also been decided that they would organize a convention of ideological workers of the party at Peshawar soon after Raiwind march.

He said that PTI Chairman had promised to meet them before Eid-ul-Azha and address their grievances, it has to happen yet, which he termed regrettable, adding, there is unrest among them, because no attention was being given to them.

He alleged that some seniors within the party did not want a real change and that’s why they avoid conveying what is on ground to the party’s chief. They have been complaining since long and it has proved a futile exercise so far, the displeased lawmaker added.

He said that they have left with no option other than to mobilize all unhappy workers and launch a movement against provincial government.
