Outages test students at exam centres

KARACHI  - Many students fell unconscious at centres as majority of halls of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Part-I & II Annual Examinations-2014 were without electricity on Tuesday.
According to reports, majority of the examinations centres out of the total 108, set up by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), remained in the grip of the loadshedding on the first day of the HSC Examinations.  K- Electricity did not clear examination centres from power suspension despite of several requests made by the BIEK Administration. The scorching heat in addition of electricity caused unconsciousness to various candidates during the exams.
During the surprise visit of special vigilance teams to examination centres 18 candidates were caught red-handedly while using unfair means in the exam. The special vigilance teams paid various visits. The teams comprise Chairman BIEK Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, Deputy Commissioner District Central Dr Saifur Rehman, DG Colleges Prof Nasir Ansar, DG Private Institutions Dr Mansoob Siddiqui, BIEK Secretary Arshad Hussain, BIEK Controller Examination Imran Khan Chishti and others.   Controller Examination Imran Khan Chishti, candidates of HSC Part-I Pre-Medical and Engineering Groups sat in the morning shift for the paper of Urdu (Compulsory), while candidates of Part-II sat for English (Compulsory) in the second shift.
