ISLAMABAD - The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) Thursday recommended 13 names for the appointment as additional judges of Lahore High Court (LHC).
The JCP meeting was held at the Supreme Court building, under the chair of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and participated by four senior judges of the Supreme Court, one retired judge of the apex court, Chief Justice of the LHC, Law Minister, Attorney General for Pakistan, and a representative of Punjab Bar Council (PBC).
According to the details, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan had referred 13 names for the appointment as the additional judges.
The JCP considered the names of Punjab acting advocate general Shan Gill and additional prosecutor general Amjad Rafique. The CJ LHC had also referred the names of District and Sessions Judges Safdar Saleem Sahid, Shakeel Ahmed and Sohail Nasir, advocates Anwar Hussain, Tariq Nadeem, Ahmed Nadeem Arshad, Ali Zia Bajwa, Abid Chatha, Raza Qureshi, Tanveer Sultan and Barrister Raheel Kamran Sheikh, to the commission.
Now, the names will be sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment for approval. After its approval the names will be notified by the President of Pakistan as additional judges of Lahore High Court.
