LAHORE - Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabiha Mansoor has announced to hold an official function in honour of Dr Bushra Mateen Prof Emeritus and former Vice Chancellor of LCWU as she has been awarded Tamgha Imtiaz. “This is a great honour for the university and we must plan a dinner in her honour to celebrate her award. All members of faculty and staff congratulate Dr. Bushra Mateen for this distinction,” Dr Sabiha said.
Meanwhile, Lahore College Associates (LCA) has also congratulated Dr. Bushra Mateen who is also president of this organisation. In her statement, Shahida Sultan, secretary general LCA, said that it was great of honour for Dr. Bushra Mateen and for LCA as well. LCWU feels pride for its old student.
Dr. Bushra Mateen’s distinguished career spans over four decades.
She showed exceptional qualities in transforming the erstwhile college to the status of university not only in name but worked to raise the standards so that it became synonymous with quality and excellence in all the areas of knowledge. Despite her administrative commitment, she always managed to retain a strong link to teaching and research, her excellence in research activities was internationally recognized by award of ISECO/UNESCO Chair for women in science in Asian Region in 2005. She has about 30 research publication to her credit.
