3 SHOs sacked for protecting mafia

LAHORE City Operations Police Chief DIG Rao Sardar Ali Khan has suspended three station house officers (SHOs) who were protecting a mafia involved in land grabbing, robberies, lodging fake cases against innocent people since long. The suspended officers include Inspector Muzammil Hussain, Inspector Tahir Zain-ul-Abidin and SI Saeed Anwar. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against the suspended officers and four other Sub-Inspectors and one inspector on the same charges. According to an official order, a copy of which is available with TheNation, inspectors Muzammil Hussain, SHO Green Town Police Station; Tahir Zain-ul-Abidin, SHO Ichraa; Shoaib Khurram, SHO Muslim Town; Sub-Inspectors including Rana Asghar Ali, SHO Wahdat Colony; Muhammad Iqbal, Wahdat Colony Police Station; Saeed Anwar, In-charge Investigation Wahdat Colony, Badar Mehdi, PS investigation wing Wahdat Colony and Faraz Ahmed, investigation wing Wahdat Colony were protecting a mafia headed by a fraudulent Malik Siddique. The order says, Rana Umair, son of Shah Muhammad, appeared before the Additional Inspector General of Police, Punjab, with a complaint that he is being involved in different criminal cases by different fictitious complainants. He informed the Additional IGP that the reason of his involvement in fake cases is his statement against SP Rana Mansoor, in an inquiry conducted by Additional IGP Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed, who sent Rana Umair to the office of DIG Rao Sardar in order to verify the facts. On inquiry, Umair told that Malik Siddique, son of Samuel, has submitted another application in Green Town police station for registration of a fake case against him. He also told that Malik in connivance with many police officers of Lahore district is habitual of registering false cases against the innocent people. The order further stated Rao Sardar called all the concerned persons in the office of SP/Saddar Division Zeeshan Asghar here on Tuesday and listened the grievances of the different persons, who were affected by the actions of Malik Siddique. According to confidential documents, about 15 victims including Tehseen Sadiq, Muhammad Saleem Ranjha, Muhammad Zahid Saleem, Rana Muhammad Arif, Muhammad Baqar, Mumtaz Ali, Asghar Butt, Syed Badar-ul-Hassan, Iqbal Anjum, Muhammad Umair, Rai Tanveer, Kamran, Sheikh Abdul Sami, Sheikh Khalid Mehmood and Muhammad Ahsan Naeem straightforwardly alleged that the aforesaid officers were lodging fake cases against them and cancelled them after having a 'deal with Malik Siddique. It appears that Malik Siddique is heading an organised mafia who in collusion of the black sheep of the Police Department are extorting money from the innocent people by involving them in different criminal cases. Rana Umair presented a list of the cases registered in Police Stations Green Town, Ichraa, Wahdat Colony and Muslim Town. They further told that there are so many cases they would try to give to the inquiry officer during the course of inquiry, it further revealed. A reliable police source, requesting anonymity, said that SHO Tahir Zain-ul-Abdin maintained in front of Rao Sardar that he registered cases against various persons after the SP Coordination Sohail Sukhera allegedly forced him to do so. Meanwhile, Sardar has directed SP Zeeshan Asghar to conduct a thorough probe into the allegations leveled against different police officers mentioned above and others found involved during the course of inquiry and give a detailed report within a week because these people are bringing a bad name to the police department.
